Please note

Mail from 26th July to all rowing participants

Hi all,

the countdown is running. We want to give you an update on the rowing training on Friday.

Training will start at 14:00 h and will end at 18:00 h at the regatta course in Oberschleissheim.

Starting from 17:00 h there will also be catering and we will have kind of a bar. This will close at 20:00 h.

This Training should be kind of mandatory, cause we want to bring all the teams together and its the only chance to test the boats.

If there is anybody who canīt attend, please drop me a note.

We are quite excited to see you all there.

At 12:00 h we will held a meeting for the team captains. I kindly ask Harald Gross, Ad Tan, Jon Avis, Martin Young, and Brian Todd to attend. (If I forget someone please feel free to join us, sorry for that)

Regards and see you on Friday in Munich.

Frank

The Rowing Competition

Rowing and the Triathlon will take place at the Olympic Regatta Course in Oberschleiß-heim, on Saturday, 31st July 2004.

As organizers combining these two sport disciplines, we hope it will be a very special event at the place of Olympic history, the Rowing Course of 1972.

We request all rowers to be at the course until 13h30. Till 14h00 the regatta course will be reserved for the two triathlon competitions (sprint and Olympic). Only afterwards the starting area will be opened for participants of the rowing competition.

The first rowing competition will start at 15h00, after the swimming and cycling disciplines of the sprint triathlon have been finalized.

It should be noted that at this time triathletes will still be on the running track.

All visitors are requested to use the direct access to the spectators stands, which can be reached without restrictions. They offer a great view of the swimming, cycling and track fields as well as, a matter of course, the rowing course.

All races will be run in open age categories over a distance of 1000 m in a 15 minutes tact.

The participants will be rowing in boats which will be made available by 'Rudergesellschaft München 72', the 'Technische Universität München' and the 'Leistungszentrum München'. The distribution of the boats will be decided by the committee the evening before the competition.

The victory ceremonies will take place directly after each race. There will be gold, silver and bronze medals. Due to time limits we request the winning participants to join the respective ceremony without delay.

The open training will take place in the afternoon of Friday, July 30th.. Details will be made available in time.

We wish all spectators lots of fun at this very interesting sportive.

Rules

The rowing regatta will be carried out according to the rules of the FISA with minor exceptions.

During the EuroGames a shuttle service with buses will be available between the station Feldmoching on the S- und U-Bahn and the Olympic Regatta Course. The S1 line of the S-Bahn connects the city center with the Munich Airport - it takes 15 minutes from the central rail station (Hauptbahnhof) to Feldmoching. The U2 line of the U-Bahn takes 17 minutes.

The Regatta Course can easily be reached by car. It is only 300 m from the Oberschleißheim exit of the Autobahn A 92. See also the information on traffic at the Homepage of the Olympia Regattaverein Munich.

Alternatively one can reach the course by using a 3km long footpath from the station Oberschleißheim on the S-Bahn.

Important note

In the case of bad weather conditions, we reserve the right to interrupt or cancel the rowing competitions.
