Tour description

The good old times? The open-air museum Glentleiten is set on a beautiful hill above Lake Kochel with a view over the mountains and magical countryside of the lower Alps. Over 100 buildings from different regions of Upper Bavaria are displayed here; not just farmhouses, bakeries and shops but also the cottages belonging to the farmhands and craftsmen. The exhibition revolves around the life of the people and their work.

After meeting in Munich, we take a train to Kochel and then continue for a short while with a bus which takes us directly to the museum.

Once at the museum we can start looking around or take a quick refreshment. The guided tour starts a short while later and should take approximately 2 hours. Since the museum grounds are extensive and the guided tour will only cover part of the exhibition, we will then break off into small groups to explore further. The plan is to leave the museum at 15:00 (the exact time and meeting point will be decided on the day).

The return trip is also a pleasant walk on a decent path to Schlehdorf. From here we will take the boat over to Kochel and then walk back to the station, where the train takes us back to Munich.
