Tour description

Whoever aims for the Benediktenwand from Lenggries, can use the cable railway to a starting hight of about 1.500 metres. From the mountain station you reach the top of the Brauneck after only 50 m hight difference. From there you can start an amazing walk towards the Latschenkopf.
Cable-railway to 1.500m

One feature of todays walk is the constant up and down (see profile). Also typical is the magnificent view (if the weather is good) towards the mountains – very picturesque for example towards the Zugspitze. The ridge looks from Staneneck like a big sleeping tiger. But your view only goes from the Vorderen Kirchstein to the Latschenkopf. Behind it you can see the Benediktenwand.

You should reach the Latschenkopf from the aerial passenger line station easily within an hour. It also offers like the whole trip before the most magnificient views deep into the alps. The Benediktenwand seems to be within reach. From the Latschenkopf it goes steeply down. Further down we walk through a striking crevice – not too narrow for normal hikers.
Peak of Benediktenwand

Shortly after the crevice we walk straight ahead to the Achselköpfe. The passage across the consecutive mountain tops calls for at least sure footage. Difficult parts are mostly secured with ropes und once you even have a metal ladder going up the rock.

The tour – observed by chamoises – to the 1.707 m high Achselköpfe will only take about an hour and is very varying. After the last Achselkopf (left picture) is goes explicitly uphill and soon we reach the access to the Benediktenwand. Secured by wire ropes we manage the first part of the massive rock.

After some up and down the last part of the walk the the peak is more even (see start page). So there will be no misunderstandings: There is no catering in the small hut on the top, so you should bring your own drinks

After the compulsary stop at the peak we walk westwards to the Tutzinger Haus. We walk across the steeply declining wall on a secure path and soon reach the catered hut. Depending on the weather we either get a "kleines Kühles" or a warm coffee, the way to the station in Benediktbeuren is another 2 hours away. Once reached we can agree to visiti the monastery or the "Klosterstuben".
