HIV AND AIDS

Refund of participation fee by Deutsche AIDS-Stiftung

The German AIDS-foundation in Bonn will be refunding on request the participation fee of the EuroGames 2004 for all athletes with HIV and AIDS. Everybody who would like to claim this service of the foundation, will have to prove that they have an HIV-infection. For the most part this happens with a medical certificate. Sometimes it can be enough if an HIV information center will confirm the infection.

The foundation helps in social emergencies caused by financial needs. Therefore the foundation needs information about the personal and economical situation of the applicant. Often a prove of income (i.e. pension approval certificate or certificate of social benefits) and the comparison of the monthly income and expenses. The funds of the foundation can only be approved for tangible needs, meaning committed to a certain requirement. The individual application form of the German AIDS foundation can be found here:

BLICKPUNKT HIV / AIDS

BLICKPUNKT HIV/AIDS (FOCUS HIV/AIDS) offers insight into experiences, everyday live, perspectives and problems with HIV/AIDS. The voluminous book in magazine style includes interviews, essays, statements, creative contributions, photos, different, complex and sometimes contradictory.

Contributions of HIV-positive athletes would fit in well into our concept, as we try to reach our target group, stimulate debates and give the topic "a face" with personal stories of "Do'ers" and "VIP's". Short statements are also welcome.

We pay a small fee for easement. Unexperienced authors can be widely attended.

Deadline is mid June 2004.

BLICKPUNKT HIV/AIDS is directed mainly at HIV-positive and -negative young people.

The project takes place by order of Dirk Hetzel, consultant "People with HIV/AIDS" of the German AIDS foundation. It is based upon an idea of Corinna Gekeler who carries out the project. She works for more than 10 years as a free journalist/publicist and PR-advisor in the field of AIDS.
