Homosexuality and Disability: Constructive Conference   01/08/2004 11:09 am

On Friday, the representatives of "Homosexuality & Disability in Sport" discussed this topic. The aim of the conference is to bring the areas of sport, disability and homosexuality together.

At the conference, representatives of various groups were brought together. Before a small but interested audience, Hans Hengelein (Speaker for gay affairs of the Niedersachsen State Government), Lucy Faulkner from the English Football Association and Dorothee Karle discussed and lectured about topics such as homosexuality and disability, the integration of lesbians, gays, bi- and transsexuals and people with disabilities in sport and the living situation of, in particular, young lesbians, gays and bisexuals with disabilities.

There was plenty of material for discussion. The constructive and engaged atmosphere which prevailed, allowed hope that the Eurogames have brought together groups which can fructify each other and can bring about change in society.
